I’ve finally finished a quilt for our grandson Ashton. It’s called “Ragamuffin” and I got the pattern from Quiltmaker Magazine.

  • Guest Day Sewing

We had a fun day today at our Magnolia Annual Guest Day Sewing. These ladies are quilting a “signature” quilt to be given to a family moving away.

    Guest5

This “nine-patch” was pieced by one of our faithful deceased members.

    Guest2

Tying comforts. This one is a white “bow tie.”

    Guest6

These ladies are putting together cheer bundles for Cherry Creek Mission in North Dakota.

    Guest4

And while we enjoy the sewing part, the children enjoyed playing together. There were over 25 children there.

    Guest1

I helped on the “string” quilt.

    Guest3

I was so pleased to have these 2 young girls to help make blocks.

    Guest8

We made a total of 24 for the day.

  • The Desert Shall Rejoice –Is. 35:1

The Desert Shall Rejoice Large Web view

I am so thankful for the suggestions that came in for naming my quilt.
    African Sunrise
    Sunrise Safari or Sunset Safari
    Blue Berry Muffin (Paul’s suggestion)
    Midas Touch
Something with “jewel” or “gem” in it.
Something with “desert” or “cactus” in it. Thorns or spikes.

So with all this info, I went to the KJV of the Bible and looked up the word “desert” and decided on
“The Desert Shall Rejoice” –Is. 35:1

Remember this picture when you all were so curious to know the outcome?

  • Farmer’s Delight Quilt

I gave our balcony a new look this evening.

    Farmer's Delight

You see, my sister Polly forgot and left her heirloom Farmer’s Delight quilt that Grandmother Vera made. I thought I just had to use it while I had the chance. Click on over to Polly’s site to see what a good time we had while they were here.

The red and white Farmer’s Delight I made and call “Family Circle.” I was inspired to make this quilt to be exhibited along with other Farmer’s Delight quilts at the Virginia Quilt Museum. My grandmother, Vera Heatwole, has made 15 bed quilts using this pattern. This inspired 2 of my sisters and a niece to each make their own Farmer’s Delight quilts. Then the exhibit was planned and I didn’t want to be left out!!!

I purchased the dark black, mauve, and purple quilt at a recent auction. It was made in the 1970′s.
