We were privileged to have Rick & Leona from Colorado to stop in for 2 nights.

    h15

They brought along Paul’s niece Paula and son Nick.

    h14

Amy & Paula enjoy couponing. It’s amazing how cheap they can get things.

    i1

Paula also helped Amy with Creative Memories making a baby book for Ashton.

    h13

While the men went to the Philadelphia Equipment Auction we ladies had a day out shopping. Then we gathered a Galen & Jeanie’s to help tie a quilt for their daughter, Melanie.

    i2

The next evening we were honored to have my niece Holly drop in for the night on her way to Texas. She was thrilled to receive this Corning coffee pot that has a percolator inside. I had salvaged it at Father & Mother’s sale last summer.

    i7

Then because Holly was here I invited in our family for a Friday evening pizza supper. Quintens left the next morning for vacation.

    i11

Craig & Angie brought her 2 youngest sisters, Lori & Joanne along as they are visiting for a while.

    i15

Our living room just doesn’t have enough chairs.

Holly’s first game of Blockus and she beat us all!

  • Applesauce

I was glad to get a bushel of good tart apples from Indiana to make sauce. Paul’s mom and sister Rhoda also got a bushel and we worked them up together at mom’s place.

    i3

Mom’s “Victoria” strainer is being put to work.

    i4

Daddy had baler troubles and came in to call the parts store. It was sweltering hot outside as you can see by his shirt.

    i6

Lena helped out by caring for and feeding Ashton.

  • Nines and Vines Quilt

    g15

I started this quilt around Thanksgiving of 2000 when Mother & Coleen were here visiting. I thought we could whip out this quilt in short order but we didn’t get very far and Mother & Coleen said they would rather go fabric shopping than sew. So that’s what we did.

I finished piecing it and had 2 quilting bees in our home in January 2001. Then I gave the quilt to Coleen as she has done quite a bit of sewing for me. She loaned the quilt back to me for my exhibit at the Macon Welcome Center and now I’m ready to return it to her this weekend. I thought this was my chance to get another good picture of it before it goes home.

I adapted the pattern from McCall’s Quilting, April 2000 and added the checker board border.

  • Magnolia Sewing Circle

We had an enjoyable day with the church ladies and children at sewing circle today. Here a 9-patch is being hand quilted.

    g10

Across the quilt sat two more ladies.

    g8

And around the corner sat this very young lady.

    g9

Two tables shoved together provided a base to pin the borders of already tied comforters.

    g11

Machine stitching the binding in place.

    g14

These young girls are tying a comforter.

    g12

Where are all the children? There were 16 present today.

    g7

Some found a place to play in this cubby hole.

  • Aunt Patty Graber

Paul and I just got back from Indiana. We attended the funeral of his Uncle Lester’s wife, Aunt Patty.

    g6

I met her only once, but I remember her as being a jolly person that brought a lot of happiness to Uncle Lester.

    Aunt Patty & Uncle Lester

We got to meet a lot of Paul’s cousins that we don’t see very often.

    g5

Kenny, Elmer, Paul, & Raymond Graber

    g4

Uncle Lester was surrounded by those that love him.

    g3

Paul & I stayed with Raymond & Laura. They invited in some of the cousins to visit us in the evening. Can you tell that Paul has the same profile has his dad? And his cousin Kenny isn’t far behind!

    g2

This is part of Uncle Ernest’s family. Missing were Carolyn, Linda, & Tillie.

  • Ethan & Queena’s Visit

We were priviledged to host my sister Polly & Mark’s children last evening and night. Queena & Ethan have two children, Dori and James.

    e5

We invited in all our family for supper. Kirby & Dori rock together.

    e6

We enjoyed two games of BlockUs.

    e7

Do you reckon that Polly wishes she could be here too with her grands?

    e8

We enjoyed learning to know them better and hope they can stop again when they are passing through.
