  • Quilt Blocks & Small Quilt

I’ve already finished my July block of the month for Christine from Possum Town Quilters. She requested any design with a black background and use pink & green for the other two colors.

    e1

Then I used my scraps from her block to make this small quilt that I need a name for.

    e3

    And here’s the back.

    e2

Carol’s choice of block was very simple using our choice of colors but her choice of pattern.

  • Watkins Glen & Corning Glass

After  going to my nephew’s wedding in VA, Paul & I and Barbara & Terry

    c3

went on up into PA & NY for a short trip. I had read “Vera’s Journey” about my Grandmother and wanted to visit the gorge at Watkins Glen, NY

    c5

where she and Grandfather went on their honeymoon in 1926.

    c6

These pictures just don’t do justice to the beauty of the place.

    c7 c10 c11

This was a nice hike up and down steps and walkways, so the water from the rock was very refreshing.

    c8

    c9

That ice cream was so good and luscious after our 4 mile hike.

    c4

We also visited the Corning Glass Museum in New York.

    c18

This man is demonstrating and making a goblet. He had to start over 2 times!

    c17

We watched a demonstration on how light travels through optic fibers.

    c16

This was an interesting display and showed pictures that were not projected on a screen but out in the middle of the room. It was like you could walk right into the picture.

    c15

And of course, I had to get a picture of Barbara looking at this piece of glass designed like a quilt.

    c14

The souvenir shop was full of beautiful glass.

    c13

    I love the color.

    c12

On our drive home we stopped to see the artwork of this man doing carving with a chain saw.

    c2

Just before we got back to Harrisonburg on 81, who should be traveling down the same highway but our friends from Meigs, GA, Merv & Marion Hoover.

The ending of a nice day.

  • School’s Out

Too much of this stuff is a weariness of the flesh!

    k2

I enjoyed math, algebra & geometry in school, but this calculus is mind boggling. I’m glad Dustin is the one taking the class and not me.

    k1

I’d rather be sewing & quilting!

  • Saturday Evening

We had a slim group for our Saturday night pizza last evening. Quintens were in Ohio, and Dustin & Craig were invited to Petres for a “drizzle” steak supper for Shelah’s fiance, Matt.

    j7

Joel served up the pizza. We were glad for Vicki’s presence too.

    j6

The little princess Georgiana, now weighs 9 lbs. I think she looks like the Rhodes, and then for some reason I see Fred Wenger’s mouth. I wonder is she is kin to him. And you know she has gained weight with that double chin!

    j4

Paul got a new phone and is learning how to use it. He had a hard time hearing on his old one and would cram it into his ear so hard that he made a sore spot that scabbed over.

    j5

    Chop Sticks

    j2

Somehow I got carried away with Georgiana!
