After a year and 2 months of making BOMs I’m finally finished. This first Festive Star block is for Linda Goley.
And this “Hunter’s Star” block is for Marjorie Williams. She chose the design and wanted autumn colors with a cream background.
Our lunch guests today were Dennis & Vi,
and their daughter Vylene, Matt & Brianna,
Curtis & Anita, Cortney & Alex,
and Paul’s folks, Mom & Daddy Graber.
Brianna really enjoyed the books and Cortney had fun on the trike.
Last evening Dustin & Quinten enjoyed Dr. Seuss’ “The Zax” along with Kirby.
“Too Many Dave’s” … 23 sons & she named them all Dave!
Can you help me name my quilt? I’m using the Farmer’s Delight pattern in memory of my Grandmother Vera Heatwole. She made at least 15 bed size quilts with 20 blocks in each quilt in her life time. Grandmother used scraps to create her quilts and they turned out beautiful. Sometimes you see the pattern with only 1 ring of triangles around the center. My sister, Polly, drafted this pattern for paper piecing and she and Barbara made their own versions.
I decided to continue the design out into the border by quilting with dark plum thread.
And now, what name would you suggest for this small quilt?
Today was the wedding of Beth Shirk & Jorge Cruz. Our family got to have the honored part of special singing.
Now, what kind of quilt do you call that?
Oh, it looks like a “Farmer’s Delight!”
After the Jan. 1 tornado, many volunteers are helping to rebuild. One day Sheila, Evie, & I took lunch out to the workers.
Kirby, Georgi, & Stacy enjoyed watching and seeing the farm sights and sounds.
And now it’s back to work putting up a dairy barn and loafing shed for cows.
For my part of the lunch, I made monster cookies. It has been years since I made them. When our children were small I’d place the Tupperware fix-n-mix bowl on the floor so they could watch. Now, I thought that Ashton just might enjoy watching like his mama did years ago.
A stop at Dairy Queen on our way to Florida.
You know we are really in the South when you see palm trees. Did you know they grow from the inside out?
The Haiti Benefit Auction.
These are items to be sold. Paul really liked the small E-Z Trail gravity wagon.
This was a different quilt than the norm at the auction. I like the cheerful colors.
This blooming onion was scrumptious.
I ask Coleen & Claire Bleu to accompany me to a gallery talk by fiber artist Jo-Ann Golenia.
She shared how she grew up sewing and how she makes her quilts.
I enjoyed her talk so much and would like to try her technique sometime.
We overnighted with Paul’s sister, Dorcas & Randy on the way home. Their children enjoyed Uncle Paul reading “Stop That Ball” and other stories.
It’s birthday time again. This time we celebrated Paul’s sister, Rhoda’s 40th.
I found an elementary school picture of her and printed it on fabric and then quilted it.
She was pleased, to say the least.
We had lunch together at La Fiesta Bravo in Macon. The waiter brought a special dessert just for her.
