Kirby is so squeezable. He would have loved playing with that rotary cutter.

  • Sewing Retreat Has Begun!

Barbara, Polly, and I along with a new friend, Linda, enjoyed a trip to Hampton, VA to the 22nd Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival.

    IMG_6487

This quilt "Wild Flowers" by Sharon L. Schlotzhaur really caught my attention.

    IMG_6475

I also enjoy this one, "Floating" by Patty Ashworth.

    IMG_6479

Today we began sewing in ernest. Mother made me another small doll quilt from velvet.

My dear T-fal iron started dripping brown water. So Father came to my rescue and now it works like a charm.

  • Possum Town Quilters February Meeting

Here are a few quilts that were shown for "Show & Tell" at our monthly PTQ meeting.

Ralph Idom showed this "Snail's Trail." He has macular degeneration and unfortunately he said he couldn't make quilts any more.

    Ralph Idom2

Here is one he made using the "mola" tenique.

CC Coggins made this reversible quilt for their church's nursery.

  • Yellowstone National Park

These pictures were taken last summer on our trip out West. The little town of Yellowstone was truly for tourists. Amy & Craig thought they needed a huckleberry experience.

    Yellowstone

The shops were so inviting with all kinds of souvenirs.

    Yellowstone2

I liked this little outdoor cafe.

    Yellowstone4

    This buffalo was very unique

    Yellowstone3

compared to this one that we saw later on.

    Yellowstone11

That water really was hot. Steaming hot!!!

    Yellowstone6

The color of this caldron reminds me of the Caribbean. It was beautiful in color but it did stink. Like sulphur.

    Yellowstone9

Old Faithful has just blown up and is now settling down for this picture.

    Yellowstone5

Please stay on the walk ways as the ground is unstable and the water is hot!!!

    Yellowstone10

Fountain Paint Pots was boiling mud.

    Yellowstone12

    And this thistle was beautiful!!!

    Yellowstone8

This picture is from another part of the park.

    Yellowstone7

And then I still have more to show you, later on.

  • Star Tricks Quilts

Yesterday at our Possum Town Quilters some of the ladies brought their Star Tricks quilt tops that they made in my sister Barbara's class here a few weeks ago. I was impressed. They all did such a lovely job.

  • MS Quilt Assoc. & Noxubee Garden Club

Last Saturday I enjoyed being with other MQA quilters in Jackson. J. J. Foley gave a talk "From Sketch to Quilt" that was quite interesting.

    J

Marilyn Dedeaux told us about self-portrait quilts. These were inspired by a class she took with Yvonne Porcella.

    MQA

Marilyn Rose showed her kalidescope quilt.

Then, last Wednesday the Noxubee Garden Club came here for their monthly meeting. They asked me to tell about my quilts for their program. What fun I had!!!

  • Glacier National Park

     Last summer after entering Montana

    Glacier National Park11

we went through Glacier National Park.

    Glacier National Park

    The scenery was beautiful.

    Glacier National Park2

    This reminds me of Switzerland.

    Glacier National Park5

They call this the "Weeping Wall."

    Glacier National Park4

And I think this picture is around a hairpin curve across from the "Weeping Wall." I liked the open top sightseeing vehicles.

    Glacier National Park13

We saw a few big horn sheep right on the edge of the cliffs with no fear of falling.

    Glacier National Park6

    Heading up to Logan Pass.

    Glacier National Park8

I felt like we were "On top of the World."

    Glacier National Park12

Can you see the people skiing way up the mountain?

    Glacier National Park9

And to think, this was July.

    Glacier National Park7

I thought Glacier was one of the most beautiful parks; but then we saw so many beautiful parks. And each one was so pretty in it's own unique way.

  • Pancake Supper

Last Friday evening we had our 27th Annual Pancake & Sausage Supper as a fund raiser for the school. Here's the gym, ready for guests.

Rosalie  & Renae served coffee and hot chocolate.

    Pancake supper2

Dennis & Vi sat at the "Welcome" table.

    Pancake supper4

The pancake flippers here are ready to start.

    Pancake flippers

And here they are frying as fast as they can.

    Pancake pancakes

Paul & I helped serve water and sweet tea.

    Pancake supper5

Some guests from SC, Kristi and Marcia helped Karla fry and make "Pigs in a Blanket."

    Pancake supper6

Our first guests for the evening are Maynard & Mary Borntrager. They faithfully come every year and are usually the first ones there.

    Pancake supper3

Levi & Elmina assist Kathryn in mixing more pancake batter.

    Pancake supper7

Ben & Krisa helped with making the drinks.

    Pancake supper8

John & Cheryl helped serve sweet tea and water.

    Pancake supper9

Here's the refill table manned by some young fellows.

    Pancake refill table

And then there are lots and lots of others, too numerous to mention that work, and work hard to make it all happen; and then to clean up when everyone is full.

  • Visitors from Virginia

It was such a pleasure to have Father & Mother come with Barbara over last weekend.

    Father & Mother & Barbara

After Barbara's picture turned out so good I wanted my picture taken with Father & Mother too.

    Father & Mother & Julia

Father made sure that Barbara fried the meat just right for the group of ladies that came to sew.

Mother peeled lots of potatoes for Gourmet Potatoes and lots of apples for Apple Crisp.

On Friday I took Mother & Barbara to the Macon Welcome Center and met Sylvia Miller and her daughter Thelma there to view the exhibit of Sylvia's paintings. We ate lunch with them at Mi Ranchito.

Father chose to stay home. Here he is reading the Sword & Trumpet.

Sheila's sister Kara came along from Virginia for a sisterly visit for the weekend.

On Friday afternoon I took Mother & Barbara over to Quintens to help quilt a little on Evie's quilt.

They also helped put stitches in Ashton's quilt.

I hope I didn't work them too hard!!!
