Thread Breakage & Skipping Stitches
Oh, dear. What do I do now? My fun little project is coming to a halt.

I have changed needles and more needles. I’ve changed thread and still the stippling is not going good. Can you see the skipped stitches and thread problems?

I’m now wondering if it’s my batting. It’s of unknown content and it has a very thin coating of something kinda like a plastic foam over it. I’m wondering if it is dulling my needle and making my thread shred. Now that I’ve come this far, what is left to do but pitch the project? Any suggestions?

Try different kinds of needles;top stitch needle, denim needle maybe a size 80 leather needle, it has a cutting edge on the tip. Hope something works, it is such a neat way to quilt a project. Don’t throw it yet.
Aunt Julia, I would love to try this sometime. It looks beautiful!
I wonder if you don’t have scrim in your batting, Can you tell if your needles are getting gummy? I love the quilting design of overlapping circles. Last night I finished piecing my conference quilt except for the outer boarder and I have a few squares to aplique on sections of big area background. I want to bring it to campout. And get suggestions of quilting designs.
Oh, dear — I’d hate to see it pitched, it’s such a pretty piece!
Looking really good Julia. I love that piece.
Julie.. I ran across this helpful info… Thought maybe it would be of value to you???…. can’t see you just pitching your beautiful work!!!
