  • Auction

On Tuesday of this week we traveled to Virginia to attend an auction of some of Father & Mother’s things. Since they moved back into the home place at my sister Sheila & Sanfords they had some things that they just didn’t need any more. We were all glad to get a little bit of history & memories from home.

    Something for everyone.

    Auction9

    Pretty glass for the ladies!

    Auction8

Quite a few men and boys were glad to get part of Father’s blow torch collection.

    Auction10

    An antique coverlet.

    Auction2

Father & Mother enjoyed watching and sharing memories about some of the items.

    Auction7

Some of the grandchildren took turns being the clerk.

    Auction1

    Tallying up the totals.

    Auction3

    Packing the treasures.

    Auction4

    Loading up and tying down!

One last find in the dumpster!

    Auction6

It was such a fun day with no squabbling and bickering. I was so thankful for the fellowship, laughter, and sharing.

  • It looks like y’all had a beautiful, fun day! It’s kind of a sad thing to watch your parents begin to pass their things on down saying, “We won’t need this anymore,” and yet, it’s part of life. What a gift to have a family that has fun at these kinds of events. I know of so many families that are divided from bad feelings. I don’t know of any item that’s worth those kind of results. Oh, and thanks for letting me know you received my e-mail. I’m excited about the project!

  • Oh, the looks like fun.

  • Julia, I just love that last photo!  Is that Jolene?……..what a neat post.  And what a wonderful time we all had.  I’m so happy to have family heirlooms to pass on to my kids.  It was so good to see my cousins.  It’s been a while since I’ve seen a few of them.

  • Lovely coverlet! Who is the fortunate new owner?

  • Looks like fun! I so wanted to be able to come……….I know I would have found some treasures. I was going to tell Polly to buy something for me, but it slipped my mind and I think Israel was relieved that his money wasn’t spent :)

  • Julia my heart was so warmed with the day. I’m so thankful to be a part of this wonderful family. The time went by so quickly and I feel I really didn’t get to visit with you much. Have you heard how the reunion went on Saturday? We felt we just couldn’t stay down for it. Love the picture of Jolene dumpster diving! Hummmmmm remember doing that?
