Here are some of the projects I worked on at our sewing retreat in Virginia. I finished up my "Star Tricks" wall hanging that I had started when Barbara came down here to teach the class. I call my quilt "Carribbean Spin."
I also finished my sampler for the Fall Gathering of MQA that our PTQ is hosting. I call it "Salsa."
Then I made this small quilt for a challenge. My niece Claire Bleu came up with this name, "After the Picnic - Mustard, Ketchup, & 'Aunts'." The 'Aunts' is pronounced 'ants' and represents me and my sisters as we were all together there sewing. And the little tiny quilt I made from those scraps just to try out the quilting thread and make sure it would work OK on the first quilt. Mother came up with this name for it, "Mustard, Ketchup, & Black Beans."
Then I also started this "String" quilt for charity. I call it "Oh Susanna." Some other good names that were suggested were "American Square Dance" or "Patriotic Square Dance."

These are all very nice!! Looks like you got a lot done!! Thanks for sharing the finished results.
Julia your posts are so good!
This one brings back wonderful memories of being together. ~~~~Now why didn't we just stay for another week!~~~~
I think for our sewing circle next week I'm going to get some of the ladies started on cutting their own strips for another string quilt. One in particular want's to know how to make one from beginning to end. We have a couple tubs of good cottons to pull from.
I need to run along. I'm gonna put in my AQS registration form.
That Star Tricks is beautiful. I love the way the colors fade out on the stars. Those colors in the string quilt are eye-catching also. Happy Piecing!
I love seeing your designs.
It is great to see the finished projects! And yes, it did bring back many good memories. When I see the tiny quilt, I remember your comment, "It's a tiny quilt -- NOT a hot pad!" I love it!
