GermanyWe continued our boat ride up the Rhine River to St. Goar where we got a train back down to Rudesheimer.
Javonne, my niece, was our tour guide.
Then we took a ferry to Bingen
and drove back up river to Bacharach.
We wound our way through the town until we came to the narrow road leading us up the hollow to Steeg.
There we found the Huthwol (Heatwole) house from which our ancesters came.
Abover the doorway is the date 1905 and J. Hutwohl.
On the way back down the hill we saw this wonderful setting with a bench. We tried it out and when we leaned back the slats on the back kept on going backwards throwing our feet up in the air. The bench was in dire need of repair.
We also visited the graveyard where some of our ancesters lie dormant until the resurrection.
We drove back down the narrow streets and browsed at some shop windows. The stores were closed so I guess my souviners will be snapshots of what I'd have liked to buy. This shop had drawings of some of the notable buildings around town.
And this shop had carvings for sale.
We ate supper at this restraunt. The pork, German fried potatoes and apple strudle were delicious.
And then it was time to board the ferry and go back to Javonne's apartment.
